Measures to Prevent Wearing of Contact Wires in Overlap Sections on Shinkansen Lines

Masatoshi SHIMIZU,  Satoshi HARADA,  Tsuyoshi MANDAI

Wear of contact wires in overlap sections is larger than it in normal areas of Shinkansen Lines. For this reason, it is important to modify overlap structures to reduce the wear of contact wires. We measured deviation and wear of contact wires in overlap sections to investigate their relationship, and found that the wear ratio of contact wires increased, when deviation was larger than in normal areas. In order to confirm this, we made deviation of contact wires small in overlap sections where the wear was great and measured the wear ratio of contact wires. According to the results we obtained, we can keep the wear ratio of contact wires at an appropriate value by maintaining a constant deviation of the wire.
