We propose a new measuring method using the inverse identification technique. The distinct feature of this method is reduced restraint on the sensor arrangement. This method facilitates therefore the contact force measurement. The contact force is estimated by calculation of convolution between the outputs of the sensors and impulse response functions which are defined as relation between sensors' outputs and contact force. To gain a sufficient precision, the high order vibration modes of the panhead have to be taken into consideration by applying a pseudo-inverse matrix. We have confirmed the measurement precision of this method by a numerical calculation and an excitation test for a currently-used pantograph.
