For train operation under strong winds, useful information on the possibility of critical gust should be provided. This paper reports some characteristics of fluctuated wind velocities through observation of natural winds. In this study, the distribution of instantaneous wind velocities is confirmed approximately to be a normal distribution first, and then the rate of wind velocity increase in a short time was obtained as a probability density function common to 11 observatory sites located in four areas.
