As the interest in environmental issues increases, the wayside low-frequency sound of Shinkansen becomes a matter of considerable concern and the number of complaints from inhabitants has been growing larger recently. Micro-pressure wave is one of the most serious phenomena among the low-frequency sounds observed at a portal of a Shinkansen tunnel. This paper describes the results of the measurement of micro-pressure waves carried out based on the manual edited by the Ministry of the Environment in October, 2000.
