A Realization of Information and Guidance Functions of CyberRail

Takahiko OGINO,  Ryuji TSUCHIYA,  Akihiko MATSUOKA,  Kouichi GOTO

By virtue of the fast development of ubiquitous computing technology, functions of CyberRail have become more and more realistic. This is proof for our visions and assessment of future IT development being correct and appropriate, and precise predictions of future transport trend. CyberRail also works as a reference model of future intermodal transport that enables railway operators to build systems with freedom of design and without barriers between operators. Odakyu Electric Railway Co., Ltd. has started an information providing service "goopas" for passengers, to send emails to customers' mobile phones, at the timings when they go through Automatic Ticket Collection gates. To demonstrate how CyberRail will be realized, we develop a partial function of CyberRail by making use fo this system.
