Evaluation of the Shear Strength of RC Beams with High Strength Shear Reinforcement

  In order to investigate the shear strength of reinforced concrete beams using high strength shear reinforcements, we performed loading tests on the beams with different combinations of the amount of reinforcement and concrete strength. Based on the test results and previous studies, the shear capacity of concrete beams using high strength shear reinforcements was evaluated and the adequacy of the shear design equation in the JSCE model code was discussed. As a result, it is found that an upper limit should be set for the shear capacity carried by shear reinforcements in evaluating the shear capacity based on the design equation. In addition, the method of setting the upper limit based on concrete strength in the yield strength of shear reinforcement was examined at the design method for the shear capacity of RC beams with high strength shear reinforcements.
