The concrete design standard for railway structures, which prescribed the limit state design in place of the allowable stress design set forth in the past, was revised to newly adopt the performance checking system. In this report, we designed reinforced concrete structures according to the old and new standards and examined the effect of the revision. The trial design targeted a reinforced concrete slab beam to compare the results obtained by the two different designing methods, and reinforced concrete pier to compare the results of using different material strength.
