The 6th World Congress on Railway Research, WCRR2003, was held in Edinburgh, UK, from September 28 to October 1, 2003. Railway Safety and Standard Board, UK, in cooperation with AEA Technology Rail hosted the Congress and successfully completed with the motto, "From Birth to Renaissance." More than 700 participants from 39 countries attended and 169 papers were presented in total. JR Kyushu's paper on "Car Failure Prevention Using a Newly Compiled Manual" won one of the best paper awards. The next WCRR will be called in Montreal, Canada in June 2006.
