For effective and economical track maintenance, it is essential to predict the dynamic behavior of rolling stock due to track irregularities. For this purpose, we identified the lateral dynamic characteristics of rolling stock and made models to predict the lateral vibration behavior of vehicles on curved sections. As the input signal, the actual cant deficiency is used for the model to predict lateral acceleration at low frequencies, and alignment and level irregularities for that in the middle frequency range. In the middle frequency range, the model to predict the lateral axle force is the same as that for lateral vibration. With these models, we can understand the relation between track irregularities and lateral behavior of rolling stock.
