In the design of the joint between the steel pipe pile and a reinforced concrete footing in railway structures, the strength at the pile top is underestimated. As a result, so many reinforced bars are necessary at the pile top, which are too difficult to array in the small space. Therefore, we have carried out a series of cyclic loading tests to investigate the mechanical behavior, proposed a reasonable designing method to improve the joint construction, and confined the effectiveness of the model based on this method.
