The pile foundation has been used for the medium-strength supporting ground from which sufficient support power can not be expected. Therefore, a sheet pile foundation that combines sheet piles for temporary trench timbering and footing foundation is proposed for the medium-strength supporting ground. To check the applicability of the sheet pile foundation, model loading tests are carried out; simulations are implemented in framework analysis; and a designing method was verified.
