Ground Surface Loading and Unloading Model Tests above a Tunnel on Deformation Behavior of Tunnel Lining

Yoshiyuki KOJIMA,  Kazuyuki YOSHIKAWA,  Kazuhide YASHIRO

Ground surface loading and unloading model tests were carried out for two types of ground, soft mortal and sand, above a tunnel to evaluate the analytical method for studying the tunnel lining deformation behavior caused by adjacent construction work of banks, structure foundations and excavation.  As a result, nonlinear deformation behaviors of the ground and the tunnel lining were comprehended.  It was also shown that these experimental results could be simulated by FEM analysis using a nonlinear ground model and a contact model between ground and tunnel lining.
