In designing a railway vehicle bogie, designers used to calculate the riding comfort and hunting speed limit for assumed parameter values, and iterate calculation after changing parameter values in case satisfactory results were not obtained. Since it was possible to calculate the riding comfort and hunting speed limit only for a few parameter values by this conventional method, however, it depended on the skill of designers whether the best parameter values were determined. Therefore, we formalized railway vehicle bogie designing as a multi-objective optimization problem, and proposed to apply the satisfying trade-off method in order to determine appropriate lateral parameters with a computer for running on a straight track. In this report, we take into account vertical and lateral parameters for running on curves. And we introduce the best solution searching method to determine parameter values by referring to merits and demerits of different combinations of parameter values while keeping in mind the trade-off points in between, though it takes a longer time for calculation than repeat search method.
