Development and the Analysis Result of an Engine Data Acquisition and Processing Device

Ichirou HAGA,  Hideyuki KOBAYASHI

RTRI developed an Engine Data Acquisition and Processing Device which can automatically measure the engine performance of a running diesel rail car. This equipment can compute engine power, the rate of fuel consumption, etc. by using the characteristics of torque converter and fuel injection pump. Test results were well in agreement with the data acquired by the conventional measuring method. Moreover, this equipment was used for about 3.5 years to continuously collect time series data on engine performance.
