Overhead Wire Diagnosis by Pantograph Shock Acceleration

Takahiro FUKUTANI,  Shunichi KUSUMI

Pantographs often fail when they clash against abnormal overhead wire equipment. The purpose of this study is to clarify the equipment conditions that would cause impulsive force or damage on pantographs collided with overhead wire components in order to improve the maintenance of current collecting system. In this study, we measured the basic characteristics of a pantograph that hit abnormal overhead wire equipment on a current collection test machine, implemented a running test of an electric car equipped with the tested pantograph, and subjected it to a laboratory shock test.
