Full-scale models of train vehicle and viaduct were constructed in a windy area in Hokkaido, and wind characteristics and three types of aerodynamic force on the models were measured for two years and three months. From the analysis of measurement results, we were able to obtain each aerodynamic coefficient of vehicles under natural winds at different wind angles. We also conducted a wind tunnel test to simulate the boundary layer flow and acquired results that were in good agreement with these of field tests. Through the full-scale and wind tunnel experiments, we summarized the methodology to obtain the aerodynamic coefficient more accurately.
