Development of Automatic Vibration Monitoring System for Railway Structures

Fumiaki UEHAN    Kimiro MEGURO

To expand the applicability of vibration diagnosis for structures, an automatic vibration monitoring system was developed. This system has an automatic vibration measuring device that records and transmits data to the center system. The device can be installed in various structures because of its compact size and principle of natural energy drive. A timer control function is used to monitor the natural frequency of structures for a long period time for the purpose of health monitoring. Because a trigger control function can be used to detect strong vibrations or changes of natural frequency of structure due to emergencies such as earthquakes, the automatic vibration monitoring system can be applied to a real-time damage detection system.
