The deterioration of concrete structures constructed during the high economic growth period has become a social problem in recent years. An easy-to-operate total soundness evaluation system was developed to provide efficient and reliable in-situ inspections and diagnoses. This system is composed by 3 units; a measuring unit that consists of various nondestructive inspection equipments and support programs, an evaluation unit that consists of various evaluation and verification programs, and a database unit that manages and stores measured and evaluated data. The applicability of these units were evaluated through various actual measurement tests conducted on railway structures all over Japan. Much more efficient and accurate structure inspection and diagnosis will be possible using this total soundness evaluation system for concrete structures.
