Usability of a ticket purchasing method to input the destination name (PMIDN) was tested with a touch screen simulator to evaluate its effectiveness, efficiency and user satisfaction by comparing with the standard method to use a map type fare list. PMIDN is better in effectiveness and user satisfaction, and also in efficiency in buying a transfer ticket. However, it is not better than the standard method when a passenger purchasing a regular ticket. This means that PMIDN will eliminate barriers to passengers who have difficulty in using the map type fare list.
