A Method to Predict Vehicle Wheel Load Induced by Track Irregularity

  In this study, the author has developed three models to predict the wheel load induced by the track geometry. The input signals are three types of track irregularities in the first model, and lateral and vertical accelerations in the second and third models. In the case of the first and second models we can predict the wheel load by the signal processing method. In the case of the third model, on the other hand, we can predict it with a simple linear equation. With these models, we can easily estimate the operational safety of railway vehicles without measuring wheel loads.
