It is necessary to use appropriate structure analysis models in order to reasonably evaluate the seismic performance of structures. In the seismic design for railway structures, a two-dimensional model in two horizontal directions is often used for structure analysis on solid rigid frame viaducts. The influence of the direction of seismic motion has not been clarified yet though it actually acts in other directions as well. In this research, seismic response analyses were performed on rigid frame viaducts by using a three-dimensional model, which clarified the influence of the direction of seismic motion and the difference in analytical models on the response of structures.
