This report describes the methods to evaluate the crashworthiness of the end structure of intermediate vehicles against side collision. We tested a lightweight stainless steel carbody structure of EMU and partial real size body structures to evaluate the deformation and crashworthiness of end structure, and applied FE analysis to verify the crash tests. As a result, it was confirmed that these methods were effective for the evaluation of the crashworthiness of intermediate end structure against side collision.
