Trend of Exhaust Emission Regulations

Koichi MURAKAMI,  Ichiro HAGA,  Hideo NAKAMURA

The Government has promulgated exhaust emission standards and determined associated regulatory requirements to control emissions from automobiles by the air pollution prevention law. The purpose of these regulations is to define general limit values for exhaust gases from engines and specify a method to measure these emissions. The emissions from motorcycles and tractors are now regulated by this rule. This paper presents the exhaust emission standards for automobiles, construction machines and ships in Japan.
