Running tests on the Yamanashi Maglev Test Line have been conducted for 8 years to evaluate the durability of vehicles and other equipment. The load to govern the durability of superconducting magnets (SCMs), which is determined by vibrations in running tests, was lower than that anticipated on commercial lines in the future. Therefore, we evaluate the durability of superconducting magnets by bench test, which simulated vibrations with 60-degree pitch levitation coils and the 120-degree pitch single layer propulsion coils. The bench test was continued up to period equivalent of 15 years after the Maglev system is commercialized. The paper reports a way to evaluate the durability of SCMs and the results of bench test.
