During the second test phase whose official term is up to fiscal 2004, running tests have successfully been conducted at the Yamanashi Maglev Test Line to verify newly developed products and systems against their designed performance. Three major technical subjects have proved satisfactory developmental results. The Maglev Technology Practicality Evaluation Committee held in March 2005 acknowledged that the technology to commercialize a Superconducting Maglev system has now completed. This paper introduces the recent state in the technical development on the Superconducting Maglev system.
