Characteristics of Contact Force Waveforms and Application to Diagnosis of Overhead Line

Shunichi KUSUMI, Takahiro FUKUTANI, Kazuyoshi NEZU

Large fluctuations of contact force between contact wire and pantograph cause unstable current collecting conditions. To obtain better knowledge of current collecting quality, therefore, it is important to measure and estimate the contact force. Contact force waveforms are affected by a number of equipment items used for overhead contact lines. It is expected, therefore, that the contact force waveform represent the conditions of overhead contact lines. This paper describes the characteristics of contact force waveform against the static height of Shinkansen and their application to the diagnosis of overhead lines.
