Global Positioning System (GPS) is practically used for the purpose of position detection and synchronization between equipments in a field of transportation. However, we cannot deny risks caused by depending only on the GPS for positioning or time synchronization because of vulnerability of the GPS. In this report, we clarify various problems about reliability of positioning by the GPS supposed in a railroad system and propose the countermeasures to improve reliability of GPS function to secure the safety of train operation.
