Performance Evaluation of a Train Control System with a New Architecture

Hiroshi FUKUOKA,  Koji IWATA

The railway system has been highly safe and reliable by continuous efforts for many years. This has been achieved mostly due to repeated improvements, and means that there are not so many experience of introducing an innovated new system.
Therefore, it is said that comparing a new system of the completely new architecture with a conventional one may be difficult matter, because of the lack of experiences to evaluate such a new system. From such a point of view, assuming a train control system with a wireless communication system of a new train control architecture, we have developed a system to evaluate an effect of a new system of a new architecture. Then we describe the result of a case study on evaluation of safety / reliability / realtime properties of the new train control system.
