Influences of Vehicle Coupling and Structure Response with Different Phase on Running Safety of Vehicle subjected to Earthquake Motions

Nobuyuki MATSUMOTO,  Masamichi SOGABE,  Makoto TANABE

The vehicle/structure dynamic interaction analysis program (DIASTARS) was version-upped to be able to take into account the lateral and row coupling forces between car bodies of the vehicle model. The influence of these coupling rigidities on the running safety was evaluated using the vehicle model running through a section having lateral angular rotations. It is also studied that the running safety of vehicles subjected to the lateral motion of structure due to earthquake combined with the angular rotation between adjacent structures induced by their difference of natural periods. It was revealed that the running safety of vehicles is considerably affected by their different phase motions especially when structures with long natural period are contained.
