There are large number of and various types of railway structures. Many of them are superannuated. Maintenance of these structures is becoming very important. In order to systematize the maintenance of railway structures and keep safety of railways, the maintenance standards are established for such structures as concrete structures, steel structures, foundation and earth structures, and tunnels. These maintenance standards are based on performance based system. This paper describes the new maintenance system for railway structures.
