Two questionnaire surveys conducted on passengers and conductors and an observation survey in train stations confirmed the following two points. Firstly, we identified the frequency and the attitude for passengers' behavior to rush to get on a train. Secondly, we examined the relation between length of ringing time of the train starting melody and rushing to get on a train behavior. The results confirmed the following findings. (1) For peak time and off-peak time, it might not be effective to shorten the ringing time of the train starting melody for controlling passengers' behavior to rush to get on a train. (2) Even if the ringing time of the train starting melody was shortened by about three seconds, it might not give any serious influence on the safety of passengers when they get on a train.
