Vibrational and differential displacements of structures during earthquake occur simultaneously, in general. However, in the past design standard, there are still undermined aspects in the calculation of response values and the setting of limit values, therefore, both displacements have been dealt with and verified independently. Then, we investigated vibrational and differential displacements, which are originally, combined phenomena in this study under a unified evaluation, in order to take into account their interactions. As a result of this study, the design limit values of vibrational displacement for train running safety were recommended 10% lower than the original limit values. Accordingly, we proposed the limit values of differential displacement in order that the averaged decreasing rate of the amplitude ratio of safety limits would not exceed 10%.
