In the route of railways, there exist curves in mountainous areas, along irregular coastlines, inside city, between cities, and so on. In order to shorten traveling time when there are many curves, it is effective to speed up on curves. Since high-speed running on curves causes the unbalanced centrifugal force, cant is set in tracks, however, the value of cant is limited for securing comfort and safety against the overturn. Then, tilting vehicles have the mechanism to tilt the body for compensating the whole or a part of cant deficiency. Tilting vehicles play an active part as main trains in Europe and Japan widely, and in this report we introduce development trend of technology applied to those vehicles.
