During the second test phase whose official term is up to fiscal year of 2004, running tests successfully completed on the Yamanashi Maglev Test Line to verify newly developed products and systems consistent to their designed performance. The Maglev Technology Practicality Evaluation Committee held in March 2005 acknowledged that the technology to commercialize a Superconducting Maglev system has now completed. This paper introduces recent researches , as conducted at Railway Technical Research Institute to verify the durability of major components of the Superconducting Maglev System such as ground coils and superconducting magnet.
