In railway services, there are several methods applicable to detect the positions of trains, i.e. a track circuit, an ATS, a tachometer generator, and others. These methods however cannot transmit several received data. We therefore developed a prototype of wireless applications using spread spectrum (SS) communications method. Our trial device can measure the distance between a car and a point on the ground, and transmit received several digital data, at the same time using SS communication method. Finally, we describe the practicality in the tested performance of the trial device conducted in the field.
