The Present Situation, Outstanding Questions and Related Activities in R&D on Railway Signalling and Telecommunications Technologies

  The development of practical technologies for railways, for example train protection and transmission systems, and the basic research such as track circuits and shunting, together with signalling system restructuring based on RAMS criteria in accordance with the RTRI master plan (RESEARCH 2005) covering R&D for future railways, continue to engage the Signalling and Communications Technology Division. This paper describes the abovementioned present situation as well as the outstanding questions to the addressed and our activities in that direction.
