Construction Errors of Concrete Cover Considered for Durability Verification of RC Viaducts

  To evaluate the durability of a concrete structure, it is important to secure the precision of concrete cover. In this study, we surveyed construction errors of the covers of railway RC rigid frame viaducts constructed in recent years, and clarified that the errors in covers varied and becomes larger with pillars depending on the conditions at different parts caused by the overall shift of reinforcing bars. Based on the study, we proposed allowable values of construction error in the cover for the design of railway RC rigid frame viaducts.
