A Study on Seismic Performance of Slender Steel-Pipe-Piers

Kosaku NAGAI,  Manabu IKEDA,  Ichiro SUGIMOTO

In accordance with Seismic Design Standards, an evaluation method has been applicable to non-linear characteristic of steel members on the assumption of conventional railway structures. However, steel-pipe piers for over-bridges at stations do not support trainloads; therefore, many steel members of long-slender type which the seismic design standards are inapplicable in many occasions. Thus, we proposed an evaluation method for the foregoing steel pipes with cyclic load experiments and FEM analysis. In addition, we proposed effective results by ribbed reinforcement and its design method.
