Structural strength characteristics of embankments largely vary due to the degree and extent of infiltration of rainfall that impairs the stability of embankment. Therefore the estimation of rainfall action needs for embankment designs. However, current embankment designs have not taken account of rainfall permeability nor established a design method considering the rainfall as an external force. This study has described a simple method to evaluate rainfall infiltration based on the permeability analysis in embankment designs; the new method as proposed is defined as a drawing contour of saturated degree method.
