Due to spread of use of IC tickets etc, and the number of travelers who use the ticket vending machine has decreased, but the ratio of number of passengers inexperienced in use of ticket vending machine is thought to increase among the total ticket vending machine users. Then, we surveyed the operation of the ticket vending machine by passenger and tha passenger flow, and devleoped a new calculation technique of the necessary number of machine.
  In the investigation of actual use state of the ticket vending machine, the time necessary for operating ticket vending machine by a user was decided according to the type of station. We showed how to estimate the necessary number of the ticket vending machine by the number of passengers passing through automatic ticket gates, and caluculated the necessary number o f ticket vending machine for each station.
