In order to find out the appropriate sound level of broadcasting under noisy environment, an evaluation test was conducted in the station platform where diesel cars were stopped. In the test, the broadcastings were evaluated by four subjective items: (1) difficulty in listening, (2) reverberance, (3) loudness, and (4) adequacy of sound volume. The result indicated that the difficulty in listening of broadcastings could be improved by controlling the sound level according to the noise level, and the appropriate sound levels for the noise levels from 60 to 75 dB, from 75 to 80 dB and from 80 to 85 dB were 83, 87, 90 dB respectively. This paper also discussed about the relation of noise level and sound level to the subjective values, and the relation among the four subjective measures.
