Human errors, which account for major potion of accident causes, are caused by failures of intentional controls are monitoring of actions and judgments. Therefore, we shall be able to prevent a number of human errors and accidents, if we can control or monitor our actions and judgments consciously and appropriately. Previously, these intentional controls and monitoring have been studied in the context of metacognition in cognitive psychology. In this article, knowledge, which was principally accumulated by studies of metacognition, was put in order at the information processing stages and the ways of development of the intentional control and monitoring abilities were discussed.
