In this special issue, the author introduces several researches and developments accomplished by RTRI in the field of railway rolling stock. The first topic is relevant to a steering bogie assisted by actuators to increase speeds of train running on curves. The second topic is concerning reduction of noise levels in passenger cabins with a piezoelectric device. The third topic is an improvement of simulation for vehicle dynamics during seismic activities. The forth topic is pertinent to a permanent-magnet-synchronous traction motor. The fifth and final topic are with respect to hardware in the loop simulation for development of vehicle technology.
