Full-Scale Loading Test of the Sheet-Pile Foundation and Seismic Design Method

  @A new bridge foundation namedg Sheet-Pile Foundationh has been proposed based on our studies. Sheet-pile which is usually used as temporary member in an excavation work is being recognized to be used as permanent structure of high bearing capacity by connecting it to the footing.
  This paper reports a full-scale loading test of a sheet-pile foundation which can be used for a single track overhead railway. The result of this test shows the high bearing capacity and bearing mechanism in the test structure. Furthermore, we studied applicability of the seismic design method for a sheet-pile foundation based on monitoring data of the full-scale loading test.
