We performed case studies and simulation analyses to clarify deformation behavior of existing tunnels by adjacent construction of embankment or cut of the ground. We found relations between deformation modulus of ground, geometrical shape of adjacent construction and their influence on existing tunnels from the case studies. We confirmed the validity of those relations from parametric analyses of actual tunnels. Based on the results, we proposed guidelines for judgment of adjacent level of adjacent construction taking into consideration deformation modulus of ground and geometrical shape of adjacent construction.
