The Simulation for the Result of Cut and Cover Tunnel Inspection

Yasushi ARAI,  Takashi ARUGA,  Tsutomu YAMAMOTO

As a number of cut and cover tunnels with reinforcing bars are deformed and cracked by earth pressure, assessment methods of width and growth of their cracks has been researched. On the other hand, there have been no well-established quantitative evaluating methods for the deformation behavior of cut and cover tunnels. Accordingly, we have carried out an inspection and a numerical simulation concerning the tunnel to investigate a mechanism of the deformation behavior. It have been confirmed that the numerical simulation for results of the inspection requires a stress history from installation of a propped wall to completion of a tunnel and deformation behavior of tunnel can be grasped by using a method of the numerical simulation described in this paper.
