An Investigation into the Actual Condition and Subjective Evaluation Test of Acoustical Environment in Railway Station

Yasuhiko IZUMI,  Kojiro FUJII

There are many sound sources in a large station, for ex @ample trains, passenger and so on, and reflective materials are often used in stations. So, many stations are noisy. Then, we measured sound level, reverberation time and articulation in stations. Next, the relation between sound level and subjective evaluation was obtained by subjective test. In addition, acoustical experiment using sound absorption objects was conducted in a station concourse. As a result, it was found that sound absorption objects had good effect on acoustical environment in station concourse. Through the studies, basic data for improvement of acoustical environment in station was obtained.
