Durability Evaluation Tests of Mold Resin for Ground Coil

Hiroyuki SUZUKI,  Masao SUZUKI,  Naoki AIHARA

Ground coils laid along the entire length of the guideway are required for outdoor use over a long period of time in the superconducting magnetically levitated transportation (MAGLEV) system. Therefore, security of stable performance and high reliability is an important subject in development of the ground coil. The durability verification test from materials level to actual products on the assumption of commercial service is necessary to secure the total reliability. We performed bending fatigue tests using test pieces made of epoxy resin of the actual propulsion coil. As a result, we obtained fatigue limit diagram and verification diagram of Miner's rule. Then, we confirmed the color difference correlation with the bending strength by comparing outdoor weathering test with accelerated weathering test.
