@It is difficult to detect a high resistance-grounding fault in DC electric railway system because it is impossible to distinguish the fault current from load current in that system. We therefore proposed a new detection method to distinguish the fault current from load current by using the total feeding current of two substations. In this detection method, it makes use of the fact that the average of load current is different from the average of fault current. First, this paper describes the new detection method of high resistance-grounding fault by using the total feeding current.@Second, the time length required for detection is evaluated by simulation. Lastly, experimental results are shown.
