A number of researches are being promoted by RTRI on the technologies of power supply system for electric railways. these researches are classified into two categories. One is related to power stations and the power supply system, and the other is to the catenary system and other current collection systems. The final target common to the technologies classified in these two categories is how to supply stable and high-quality power. This paper presents the outline of recent researches of power supply system and composing equipment.
